Your negotiations team met with the company again last week.

Though we have filed for mediation, we are committed to continuing to meet regularly with the company to move forward with negotiating our contract before mediation begins.

As you may remember, last month the company gave us a counter to the PBS LOA that we presented them with in November. The pass they gave us had taken most of our language out, leaving a vague “framework”. The company feels most details should be ironed out by a joint AFA/PSA committee after agreeing to a PBS LOA. While we absolutely agree that there must be a joint committee, and as things progress new rules/policies, etc. may need to be changed and/or implemented, we are insistent that in order to bring a PBS LOA to the FA group, there MUST be specific language.

One item the company took out was AFA having the ability to help determine the reserve grid numbers. The pilots have been afforded this language & FAs deserve it too!  The company told us it was a “quality of life” issue for pilots and was not part of PBS—though it’s in their PBS LOA!  We have let the company know that the FA group DESERVES the same quality of life improvements as the pilot group. PBS is an improvement/cost-saver for the company. It’s not something that the FA group has to have. If the company isn’t willing to give us what we deserve in return for taking PBS, we have no problem continuing with hard line bidding (like we have today).

MEDIATION

We have been in contact with our assigned mediator. As soon as our first session is scheduled, we will let you know. We are confident that once mediation begins, we will start to see some positive movement on the sections that we have open. Just a reminder that mediation is a normal part of the negotiations process. It’s a good thing!

RED AFA PINS!

Several weeks ago, we notified you that we had red AFA pins for negotiations available. What do the red pins mean? It means we are turning up the heat on the company, we are letting them know that we are READY for a fair contract. It shows our UNITY. There is strength in numbers!!

If you have already received your red AFA pin, please wear it with pride every day!  If you still haven’t received a pin, reach out to your local officers.

As always, we encourage you to reach out to the committee anytime for comments, questions, concerns, etc. at: negotiations@afapsa.org

In Unity,

Lee, Sean, Becky
